Man plays different roles at each phase in his life. This is what Theri is all about. Released with a bang this Tamil New Year, the movie has manged to satisfy the expectation of the fans and the promise of the filmmaker Altee.
Filled with action, romance and comedy, the movie is no less that entertainment. Revolving around Vijay who plays three differenr roles, Joseph Kuruvilla, Vijay Kumar, Dharmeshwar, the movie is all about love, revenge and parenthood.
Director Atlee has manged to recreate the magic of Raja Rani in Theri, although the former was a full-fledged romantic story.
Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu it has music by G V Prakash Kumar. Cinematography is handled by George C Williams while Prabhu, Raadhika, Rajendran and director Mahendran form part of the cast.
Vijay who plays an IPS officer is not new to this role. His body language and face expression in each stage of the film has brought out different emotions. His co-stars Amy Jackson and Samantha Ruth Prabhu play a teacher and a doctor, respectively.
Baby Nainika, actress Meena's daughter, is a diamond in the setting. The kid has performed beyond her age and is a dotting daughter to her father.
Rajendran's role as a police officer is exceptional. The actor who is normally seen as a villian plays a comedian in this movie. Samantha and Amy Jackson are at their best in their roles. The duo complement their characters.
Although a familiar story-line, Theri, in the hands of director Atlee has shaped up well. Theri is GV Prakash's 50th film. The film's album reached a million even before the movie hit the screens. The music composer is at his best in the background score. Editing by Anthony L Ruben is both racy and crisp. Theri promises nothing short of action for its viewers.
